During World War II, the Jewish people endured unspeakable persecution. Approximately six million Jews were brutally murdered by the Nazis in what became known as the Holocaust or Shoah. This genocide, which took place across Nazi-occupied Europe between 1941 and 1945, involved mass shootings, gas chambers in death camps, confinement in ghettos, forced labor, starvation, and other barbaric methods. While there might be some debate about the exact numbers, there’s no disputing the sheer barbarity of the atrocities committed.

Just 80 years later, the very same Jewish people have transformed into perpetrators of genocide and crimes against humanity. Over the past two years, more than 50,000 to 56,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza, the majority of whom are women and children. Nearly half of the casualties are women and children, with some UN-verified incidents showing this figure rising to 70%. This brutal violence has obliterated countless families, orphaned thousands of children, and effectively reduced the Gaza Strip to rubble. While the devastation and humanitarian catastrophe are enough to shake the global conscience, there’s no real sign of the violence abating.

On June 13th, Israel attacked Iran without any provocation. Their excuse? Iran was supposedly on the verge of developing a nuclear bomb within weeks. This is the same claim Benjamin Netanyahu has been making for the past thirty years. He continues to repeat this shameless assertion, despite the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) unequivocally stating there’s no evidence of an Iranian nuclear weapons program.

Israelis didn’t believe Iran could penetrate their much-vaunted “Iron Dome” defense system. Yet, it happened. They underestimated Iran’s capabilities. Now, Israelis are getting a taste of the hellish suffering that the people of Gaza have endured for so long. They are being forced to swallow their own bitter medicine.

Religious history suggests that no Jewish state has ever lasted more than eight decades. This, it is believed, is due to the actions of the Jewish people themselves. The future of the state of Israel rests in the hands of Israelis. Are they, once again, inviting their own destruction?
