Dr. Lokman Khan
We always have a choice,
In the quiet moments before action,
Between the good and the bad,
Between a gentle hand or a clenched fist.
We always have a choice,
To listen deeply to the hum of conscience,
To measure the worth of a path
Not by its ease, but its grace.
We always have a choice,
Though your truth may wear
A different shape than mine;
What gleams to one
May go dim in another’s eye.
We always have a choice,
To hold kindness,
To abandon harm before it blooms,
To stand closer to hearts that uplift,
And drift from those that tear down.
We always have a choice,
To love fully,
To let compassion rise above all,
To fill the world with understanding—
And never let hate find a home.
