By Dr Lokman Khan
In a world where double standards lay the ground,
A curious norm has quietly been found.
What once was odd, now hardly makes a sound,
The abnormal is normal, in this reality bound.
We turn our gaze when injustice shows its face,
Accepting the silence with a passive grace.
The norm now is to shy away from the fight,
In the shadows, we hide from what’s right.
The headlines scream of sorrow and of sin,
Yet many watch, as if entertainment to begin.
Bad news is a show, a spectacle to see,
While empathy wanes, we watch with glee.
The world grows numb, to pain, to joy, to life,
Indifferent to happiness, indifferent to strife.
Anything and everything, just echoes in a void,
Where feelings once lived, now simply destroyed.
