By Dr Lokman Khan

In the game of heartbreak, the lost and the found,
Intoxicated souls, do they hear love’s sound?
Will they seek solace in poetry’s embrace,
Or in words of love, find a saving grace?

What generation comes, with hearts so closed,
Where kindness is a flower, too rarely exposed?
Where voices pure are met with deafened ears,
And hearts, like stone, show no trace of tears.

Forgotten are the songs, the hymns of love’s past,
Will they know peace’s sweetness, if at all, at last?
With minds of malice, where anger takes its stand,
Can happiness bloom in this barren land?

Yet I will speak of love, though you turn away,
Disgust today, but love’s warmth will sway.
I’ll sing of peace, though now you’re deaf to the tune,
Tomorrow, perhaps, you’ll join under the moon.

I’ll walk the path straight, where truth is my guide,
You may mock, but my stride takes no pride.
Tomorrow, you’ll see, your steps will align,
On the path I tread, where truth’s light does shine.

Today, a fool, they say, as I walk the path of right,
But victory’s song may yet echo in the night.
For truth is a melody, that in the end will ring,
And in its chorus, even the doubtful will sing.
