By Dr Lokman Khan, Bradford
In the blue sky, a bird takes flight,
Wings spread wide, basking in light.
A life of freedom, up so high,
Where clouds are castles, in realms nigh.
It dances with the wind, a graceful ballet,
No bars of iron to lead it astray.
Each beat of wings, a verse of life,
Above the world, free from strife.
Yet in the cage, a bird remains,
Alive, yes, but bound by chains.
It sings a song, both sharp and rife,
With notes that cut like a knife.
For life is more than breath and feed,
It’s the sky’s expanse, the heart’s need.
To soar, to explore, to dive and thrive,
That is to live, not just survive.
